The time had finally come. July 9th had arrived and the weather was tolerable. I was filled with a mix of anticipation and dread. the reason for the mixed feelings is I had invited my girlfriend and she’d never read any of Gaiman’s stuff. Describing the show aloud sounded odd and weird, but I was hopeful and sure shed’d like it. What was worse was when she’d told the babysitter, her mom, the puzzled look further cemented this was weird.
This edition of Pages Reads tackles Neil Gaiman’s “Norse Mythology”! We have the whole crew on deck for this pod and we share our favorite story out of Gaiman’s anticipated book. There’s also talk about comics and we get a bit sentimental and chat about some personal stories about… stories that are dear and near to our little black hearts. The debate on Smaug’s name happens inadvertently or more importantly Dustin’s inability to pronounce his name and make it through “The Hobbit”.
Originally a kids book episode, we quickly forget that idea and break into a little Walking Dead comic action about the Whisperers. They seem like a lovely bunch of people… We discuss Mr. Neil Gaiman, and clear up what constitutes a children’s book. Pages also tries to figure out how a whole town misplaced some kids to a Piper and gets into a Lore-esque style podcast where documentaries are made about superheroes as if they were real.
